Outdoor Summer Fun with Your Family

It's summer! Your kids are out of school and they are home ALL day with you. What are you going to do? Well first, breathe. Summer time is a great opportunity to spend quality time with your children. Try out these FREE, fun, simple OUTDOOR activities you can do with your kids.

1. Have a picnic. Let your kids take turns choosing a special location: at a park, in your backyard, or on the beach. A picnic can consist of mix-matched foods and healthy snacks. This is a perfect time to sneak in fruits and vegetables. Try these healthy snacks in disguise: ants on a log (celery with peanut butter and raisins on top), or frozen banana pops (slice bananas, roll in peanut butter, and sprinkle peanuts or cereal on top). The best part about these sneaky snacks is your children can help you make them.

2. Draw on the sidewalk. The sidewalk is not just used for walking, skateboarding, and rollerblading. It's a blank canvas - a different medium for your children to be creative. Drawing on the sidewalk gives them another perspective for art and opens doors to creativity. Sidewalk chalk comes in all colors and is easily and quickly washed away. Don't be afraid to get your knees a little dirty, and your arms a little chalky. Children are never afraid to get messy, so you shouldn't be either.

3. Visit the park. Your daughter wants to practice riding her new bike, your son wants to try tricks on his skateboard, and your dog needs to be walked. Where can you go? Go to the park. Your family has endless outdoor-safe activities to play at a local park. It also provides opportunity for social interaction with neighborhood families and local friends from school.

Welcome to CommunityAlert

CommunityAlert is a notification and information system developed for your organization by Ident-A-Kid Services of America, the Nation's leading child safety program, in conjunction with your local sponsors. Many organizations pay significant amounts for similar notification systems. In today's budget situation, such costs can be overwhelming; so many organizations have had to forgo this type of service. With the CommunityAlert System, there is little cost to the organization or its members.

There are two components of the CommunityAlert System. The first component is the notification portal, which allows the organization to send electronic messages, via email, text message, or both. In the event of an emergency, it can instantly notify members by sending a CommunityAlert message to your email and/or cell phone. For example, if YOUR child ever goes missing, it could broadcast an Alert with a photo and description to every member of the organization to help law enforcement search for your child. In addition to emergencies, it can provide general information, like newsletters and meeting reminders.

The second component of CommunityAlert is a weekly informational newsletter. This easy-to-read newsletter has family related topics, like 5 Steps to Minimize Catching the Flu, or 6 Tips to Improve Your Child’s Reading Skills. This newsletter is supported by the generous donations from local individuals and business sponsors. We encourage you to patron these sponsors because they are supporting your organization. If you know of any businesses or individuals, who would like to be featured as a CommunityAlert Sponsor, please click on the "Become A Sponsor" link or forward them this webpage.
